With over 25+ years in Ministry Pastor Jiggetts has served in every capacity. With an evangelical spirit he has been sent by God to pastor and minister for 20+ years. Pastor Jiggetts has established multiple churches, The Walk TV & Radio series, MJM Evangelical Association, Virginia Deacons and the Ministry School of Salt and Light. Pastor Jiggetts is about growing the kingdom and getting the Good News out! One of his latest books is out on Amazon, It's Not Crazy It's Just Autonomy. (Understanding the Baptist Church.) Pastor Jiggetts is truly an anointed leader whom has deep revelation of the scriptures. He teaches Jesus through simplicity, power, grace, understanding and side of humor. Growing spiritually and living a transparent kingdom life along with his family is who he is. Pastor Jiggetts is a father to 5 child 3 boys and 2 girls, married to Amy since 1999. He served as a United States Marine and was once an elected politician. God moved him from a council seat to a pastoral anointed seat for the Kingdom. With a calling for equipping leadership and training peoples gift to serve the kingdom is a fruitful portion of his ministry. Understanding what it takes to seek, serve and win souls for Jesus Christ, ministry is the way. One of pastor Jiggetts favorite portion of scripture is "The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and he adds no sorrow with it" - Proverbs 10:22 and this is what he lives by!
Churchland North Baptist Church was birthed out of a community complex called Churchland North in Portsmouth , VA 1995. It began when two sisters Bertha and Veronica Mitchell would walk the property in the evenings and bared witness to the needs of the people within the complex. Sister Bertha started seeking help and contacted a Pastor with their expressed need of Jesus within this community. Pastor Robert L. Baker, Sr. took on this assignment and a Bible Study group started to evolve. In 1995 Pastor Baker assigned Pastor Randolph Beverly to this ministry in which it became Churchland North Missionary Circle. This circle would meet and hold services inside the community rental office and being a facility that was not accommodating to a ministry there were struggles. As they continued and pressed forward a church across the street became vacant and available for rent so the circle grasped hold of that opportunity and moved right in. This was the ground that was needed for this Circle to accommodate more people and it started to take root and grow. During this time Pastor Beverly encouraged this group to buy a parcel of land on the community property, in which a building fund started. As we were building to purchase Pastor Beverly went on to be with the Lord. He had great vision and started us on the right track and unfortunately he didn't get to see the vision come to pass. We continued tithing and moving forward with the vision. After efforts of seeking a new Pastor in continuing this journey the Lord sent us Pastor Timothy Dale Thomas, Sr. He became the new shepard of Churchland North Baptist Church. Through Pastor Thomas and the body we got our building and parcel of land along with so many great opportunities in ministry. Pastor Thomas served this house and continually moved us forward for the past twelve years. Pastor Thomas has accomplished and done great things with us and through us. Pastor Thomas has been called onto another journey within his walk and is truly appreciated for all he and his family has done for this church. As of September 2017 we have selected a new shepard who now serves as our Pastor Melvin O. Jiggetts. We look forward to a great future and building the Kingdom of God together.
